Blah, blah, blah…that Mitch McConnell won’t allow impeachment witnesses. Or so that is the headline barrage. Say what you want about Mitch McConnell (I personally think he embodies much or what is wrong with Washington), but his insistence on running the impeachment trial in the same manner of Bill Clinton’s ALLOWS FOR WITNESSES after both the House and the President’s team make their cases.
Once the cases have been made the Senate discusses and decides on witnesses.
It may very well be the Senate majority votes down all of the Democrat proposed witnesses, after all only 3 were approved for the Clinton trial, but to say McConnell is proceeding without allowing witnesses is disingenuous reporting.
